Virtual Cooking class proves a hit in lockdown

5th March 2021

Solihull College & University Centre’s virtual cooking course is proving a hit with attendees who are learning for free from the comfort of their own kitchens.

The online course ‘Cook and Bake Along at Home – Virtual Kitchen’ provides various healthy and easy ideas on how to create delicious family favourite meals.

Students have been learning new skills and broadening their palettes with simple step-by-step virtual instructions and demonstrations from their tutor.

Student Carol Wright comments: “For me the virtual learning was even better than in class, as we can all hear the tips the tutor is giving to other students, which isn’t always possible in the Kitchen. We have also gotten to know each other. I found it all so much easier in my own familiar kitchen and with my own equipment. Just brilliant for people stuck at home for lots of different reasons as well as COVID restrictions.”

Tutor Jabeen Prasetyo adds: “The class has been great fun. It has really united people virtually in the comfort of their own homes all coming together through a love of cooking. We hope more people will join us and enjoy the experience.”

The free course will run for 5 weeks with homemade pizza, sweet & sour chicken, italian meatballs and chicken tikka masala all on the menu in the upcoming weeks.

There are still places available on the course. Apply now!
