A group of Ukranian students from Solihull College & University Centre are flying the flag for the College by taking 2nd place in a major Esports competition.
Akshyn Kerimov, Dan Bieliaiev, Ramazan Tazhutdinov and Serhii Terlych have all come to the UK in the last 5 years and have found their way in computing.
Over the last four weeks they’ve been taking on competitors from across the country in a live Esports mobile phone competition against 11 other colleges.
The game is similar to other high profile elimination games. It involves working as a team of four, communicating with each other to ensure your team gets the most eliminations in the battle royale battleground.
The ‘Solihull Survivors’ team placed second with an impressive 110 points, with Parrs Wood Piranhas coming in first with 151 points.
Esports and Computing lecturer, Antony Stafford, is incredibly proud of the team. He comments: “Coming to a new college is hard enough, but when you come from a different country, it can take a while to settle in and get to grips with everything, including the language barrier. This group of students have impressed me so much with their determination to do well. They have found a place in Esports and I’m confident they will go on to great things.”
