Forensic & Criminal Investigation students have had a week of hands-on experience thanks to engaging workshops delivered by a specialist investigation team.
Footprint Investigations worked with second-year students at Blossomfield Campus to give them an insight into digital forensics, focusing on cell site analysis.
The students were given a project to work on, which was a ‘Who Did It?’ task, where they had to work in groups, look at the evidence and then present their findings.
Students were taught about mobile phone cell towers, the information they possess, and the growing significance of digital forensics in criminal investigations.
Work placement Co-ordinator, Emma Richards, believes it’s incredibly important students receive work experience as part of their course. She commented: “This was a fantastic week and it was great to see how engaged the students were. It’s vital the students get hands-on experience. It’s really given them the opportunity to learn and get involved in a topic linked to their course.”
Andy Townsend from Footprint Investigations commented: “I genuinely believe the week ended ‘on a high’. The students all participated in areas which were outside their comfort zones and without exception all did themselves proud.”
