Solihull College & University Centre students have enjoyed a visit to Lochinvar who design, manufacture and distribute a large range of high efficiency/condensing water heaters and boilers.
The Higher National Certificate (HNC) Building Services and Construction Students were able to take part in a training day at the company which was informative to the students. The students were able to take what they have learnt whilst studying their HNC at Solihull College & University Centre and relate this to the everyday work at Lochinvar.
Representatives from Lochinvar spent time explaining the development of water heaters and boilers from the 1800s, showing the students the conventional and renewable energy water heaters and boilers. Lochinvar also showed the students how to select the best system for a given situation and demonstrated what needs to happen during commissioning of a given system.
Both the construction and built environment students were able to benefit greatly from the day by being able to experience what happens in industry and use their knowledge from their course to support this; a great day was had by all students.
