Student photograph showcased in national show

25th September 2020

A Solihull College & University Centre student is celebrating after their landscape photograph was shortlisted to feature at The Photography Show.

Jamie Spensley, 17 from Solihull, was following the show on Instagram and saw a competition to capture an image that represented ‘looking forward’. Jamie submitted a landscape photograph of a stunning sunset view looking out to sea and was thrilled to hear his image had been selected.

Delighted with his achievement, Jamie comments: “It meant a lot to me because I put a lot of effort into taking and editing my photographs. And to see my hard work being showcased in a virtual gallery along with many other talented photographers is amazing.”

Jamie studies Media at the College and has just started his second year. “I have really enjoyed the media course so far” he comments. “The lecturers are very good and the course allows me to explore the parts of media I really enjoy such as film making and photography. Anyone who wants to study creative media, I would highly recommend this course to them.”

Jamie is hoping to go on to study filmmaking or photography further in the future and is considering the Creative Film Production degree offered at the College in partnership with the University of Northampton. He is aiming to continue to build a portfolio in photography in his spare time in the hopes that one day he can start a freelance photography career.

The Photography Show is taking place online this year. It hosts inspiring talks and offers advice about innovative products to help attendees build up their skills. You can register for free and check out the event to see Jamie’s work at https://www.photographyshow.com/
