Student designers at Starpack Awards

9th July 2019

HND Graphic Design students from Solihull College & University Centre have been rewarded for their outstanding work at the Starpack Awards in London.

The Starpack Awards have been running since 1960 and are the premier UK annual award scheme recognising innovation in packaging design and technology. The College has had huge success at the awards in recent years. This year’s students; Megan Allbright, Anzonie Carpenter, Rachael Pickard, Hussnain Abid, Louise Storrie, and their tutor Neil Duffy attended the glitzy affair at the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IOM3) in London.

Students worked on their projects from a set of industry-standard briefs. They submitted design ideas and final mockups for the judges to assess.

With over 150 students entering from colleges and universities across the U.K, the Solihull students were recognised with five awards, including 2 golds – a great end to an outstanding academic year.

Tutor Neil Duffy stated: ‘We are extremely proud of our students. The challenging briefs they work to prepare the students for jobs in the industry.  The students’ ability to meet the briefs and really impress the judges proves they are ready for exciting careers in graphic design’.
