Solihull Students come out on ‘Topps’ with tile donation
Friday, 4 December, 2015

Students in Solihull are gaining qualifications and improving their practical skills, thanks to a generous donation from the UK’s largest supplier of tiles and associated tools and accessories, Topps Tiles.

Hundreds of colourful tiles and grout were gifted to Solihull College’s Woodlands Campus on Auckland Drive, so that students could practice their tiling techniques and work towards achieving a Diploma in Construction.

The donation is part of Topps Tiles ongoing commitment and support for students with a passion for the construction industry, as well as local charities and community initiatives in the area.

Kevin Byrne, the construction coordinator and lecturer at Solihull College, said: “The donation from Topps Tiles has made a huge difference to our students. Having these materials to work with means they will be able to gain the essential practical experience and confidence needed to make them highly employable.”

Deborah Gobey, marketing communications manager at Topps Tiles, added: “Supporting local people to improve their career prospects is important to us. We are delighted to know that our donations are making such a difference to the tillers of the future.”
