Solihull College & University Centre will be the first educational institution within the Midlands to offer the NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Event Planning to learners.
Young people who wish to begin their career within event management and event planning can begin their career journey with the course at the College’s Blossomfield Campus in Solihull. The course takes a look at the planning of events for different sectors including sport, music and corporate events and studies the duties of the event planner/coordinator role.
Solihull College & University Centre has fantastic links with a variety of companies to give students the potential opportunities to gain work experience across a number of events at different local venues including The Fashion Show Live at the NEC, Warwick Castle and Hogarth’s Hotel in Solihull.
Within the level 2 qualification students will produce event and contingency plans and learn about security and health and safety requirements at planned events. Learners will also have the chance to explore market research, investigate marketing methods and resources and produce marketing plans for events. The course consists of 5 mandatory units and is assessed through practical observations, multiple choice exams, assignments and portfolio building. As well as this students will be tasked with organising 3 different types of events to be held at the College throughout their studies.
The Event Planning course at Solihull College & University Centre gives young people who would like to get into the events industry the chance to start their career journey and gain experience within the industry. By completing the course students could go on to work as an event planner or within event management at a number of events including musical festivals, sporting events and corporate business events.
