Solihull College opens its doors to prospective learners
Monday, 3 November, 2014

From finding out how to become a veterinary nurse, trying your hand at plastering to finding out more about available Foundation Degrees; these are just a few of the activities on offer during November at Solihull College’s open events.

The College will open its doors to school leavers at both its Blossomfield and Woodlands campuses; in addition there will be a Higher Education Open Day at the Blossomfield Campus.

On offer at the Try It! Love It! Learn It! open events for school leavers over forty subject areas will be attending offering ‘have a go’ activities to young people, along with the chance to speak with teaching staff. With so much choice available to school leavers, it is hoped these events will inspire and encourage those who may not have any idea of their next step. An example of some of the subject areas attending are aerospace engineering, photography, health and social care, animal management and motor vehicle.

Sue McGregor is Head of Curriculum at the College, she comments: “Choosing the next step after school and beyond can be a difficult choice; these events are aimed at giving future learners the opportunity to find out more about vocational career routes to see if they like them. Furthermore it will provide a great chance to see the College and the facilities available to learners”?.

In addition to the school leaver events, the College will be holding a Higher Education Open Day at the Blossomfield Campus. The College works with various universities, including Oxford Brookes and Birmingham City University, to deliver a range of higher education qualifications in areas including Early Years and Childhood Studies and Health and Social Care.

Visitors are advised to check the website for more details as although the majority of subject areas will attend the school leaver event at the Blossomfield Campus, and only a limited number will be at the Woodlands Campus.
The Try It! Love It! Learn It! school leaver events are being held on Saturday 22 November between 10am-2pm at the Blossomfield Campus and on Wednesday 26 November at the Woodlands Campus between 6pm-8pm.
