Retail Birmingham Awards are back for 2014
Tuesday, 25 February, 2014

Retail Birmingham, the Business Improvement District (BID) that represents over 1,000 city centre businesses, will be celebrating outstanding achievements in retailing with the launch of its prestigious Retail Birmingham Awards 2014 on Monday 24 February.

The awards, sponsored by the National Skills Academy for Retail at Solihull College and in partnership with Trinity Mirror, are designed to recognise and reward retailers and individuals working in Birmingham city centre for excellence in customer service, team work, emerging talent and leading in industry standards.

Every retailer in the BID area, including bars, restaurants, hotels and banks, will get the chance to nominate themselves, a colleague or a team to win a coveted award. There will also be an opportunity for the public to get involved and vote for an individual or a store that has provided outstanding customer service. Shoppers can nominate online at ShoppinginBirmingham.com from Monday 24 February – 22 March. Each person that nominates will be automatically entered into a prize draw to win a £250 shopping voucher to spend in the city centre.

Following the closing date, winners will be carefully selected by a panel of industry and media judges including Solihull College’s Senior Director of Employment and Skills, Shaun Hindle, Editor of the Birmingham Post, Stacey Barnfield and Chair of Retail Birmingham, Jonathan Cheetham.

Shaun Hindle comments: “As an organisation that works closely with many different retailers across the Midlands through our links with the National Skills Academy for Retail, we feel these awards will allow individuals and organisations to receive recognition for their hard work and excellent customer service they deliver, as well as helping to set benchmark for service for the whole of the city centre”.

Each winner will be presented with a Retail Birmingham Award trophy and prize in their store by a special celebrity guest presenter during the week commencing 7 April. Winners and highly commended nominees will then be invited to a celebratory breakfast ceremony at Malmaison at The Mailbox.
