Solihull College & University Centre is excited to be launching a brand-new policing course for school leavers set to start in September 2025.
This qualification is designed to prepare students to enter straight into employment in the police force, or to progress onto higher education.
The course covers a broad range of topics on policing activities, policing powers, and the history of the service. Students will develop leadership skills, physical fitness, and learn more about the skills needed for a career in the force.

As well as having former police officers teaching the course, the College has links with key agencies including the British Transport Police, to ensure guest speakers can provide further insight to the roles available.
Students will gain a NCFE Level 3 Policing Diploma in year one and an Extended Diploma in year two. Upon completion, successful students will be able to progress onto the College’s HNC Policing course.
Lecturer Steven Barber says it’s the perfect time to launch the course: “In response to entry requirement changes by UK Police Forces, the College is proud to offer a new, bespoke, comprehensive, Level 3 Policing Course. This program is run by ex-police officers and designed to equip students with the practical skills, ethical foundations, and knowledge required for a successful entry into and career in policing.
“By completing this course, the students will be prepared to directly apply for the role of a police officer, meeting current entry requirements, as well as having the skills and knowledge required to manage the demands placed in front of them. This qualification will also allow students to progress onto university level studies”
