Solihull College & University Centre is excited to introduce both the Higher National Certificate and Diploma (HNC/D) in Policing and Public Services to its university level offering for the new academic year.
The HNC/D in Policing aims to develop students to meet the demands of employers in the policing sector. On successful completion, students may work towards careers such as a Special Constable, Police Volunteer or Police Staff, or progress on to university into relevant police-related courses.
Also newly offered is the HNC/HND in Public Services which offers students a broad introduction to the subject area via a mandatory core of learning. Students have the opportunity to select a career pathway in Protective Services, Crime and Criminal Justice, Public Service Management or Blue Light Services.
Stefan Bird, Public Services Lecturer at the College stated; ‘These new courses offer a great opportunity to anyone looking to work in the public services sector. The Policing HNC/D and future top up will make students more marketable for policing. The new course puts us as a college at the forefront of police services. Many of our experienced staff members already have extensive police experience so we can prepare students in the best way possible’.
Sue McGregor, Dean of Higher Education and Curriculum Innovation commented; ‘We’ve had a strong level 3 Public Services offer for many years, so it’s great that we can now offer these students progression opportunities into university level study, as well as welcoming new external university level students to the College’.
