A further two national awards have been scooped by Solihull College’s marketing team as they continue to make their mark with their award winning digital strategy.
The College rose above stiff competition at the UK Digital Experience Awards and the Heist Awards to win the ‘Best Charity/Not-For-Profit’ category and gain a Silver Award for ‘??Digital and Social Media’, respectively, beating institutions such as Cambridge University and Breakthrough Breast Cancer in the process.
Both awards were based on the teams’, now widely recognised, success for the College’s online and interactive prospectus, Take Your Place (TYP). The College moved away from printed prospectuses back in 2010 due to the increase in online activity amongst young people and, after market research, it was found learners wanted to see images that were more representative of what they would be experiencing as a student. The online prospectus, TYP, has been recognised within other education and business related awards, as it stands out as being one of the only FE digital prospectuses in the country.
Dave Cooper, Director of Marketing at Solihull College comments: “??To receive further recognition for our digital communication strategy is fantastic. The award win confirms the dedication, passion and professionalism of the marketing team and I am pleased to be working with them all. This has been a memorable day and we will be taking this award back with pride”?.
On a daily basis, the team use Facebook, Twitter and YouTube to communicate to learners, employers and school leavers. Since the shift towards a more digital communications strategy, the College has more than doubled their social media following, with Facebook and Twitter numbers combining to represent the highest of any college in the Midlands.
The marketing team won the Gold Award for the ‘Innovative Use of Technology’ in 2013 at the FE First Awards, and were also recognised by the Birmingham Chamber of Commerce with an award nomination for their strategic use of social media to drive interest towards their digital marketing.
