Motor Vehicle students accelerate towards employment

3rd September 2019

Solihull College & University Centre and MotorServ UK have joined forces to provide motor vehicle students with work experience and apprenticeships.

Thirty students have so far gained valuable practical experience as they work towards employment in the industry.

Solihull local Kamran Saleem, Managing Director at MotorServ UK stated: “There is a difficulty in our industry to source skilled, motivated staff with the right attitude for work.  With the students coming directly from the College, and having the support of their tutors and mentors, as well as our trainers and managers in house, the recent scheme has been hugely successful.  We have found the students to be highly motivated and driven and as a consequence we have taken on four full time apprentices from the recent programme.”

Kamran understands the importance of employers using apprenticeships as a way of building their future workforce. He states:  “The youth and the students of now, are the industry leaders of the future!  We at MotorServ UK are unique as a setup. Being one of the largest independent workshop environments in the Solihull and larger Birmingham area, we can offer experience in a high paced, highly pressurised commercial environment.  Apprentices are provided a fantastic opportunity to learn to cope at a high level from the outset. Employers should take apprentices on as it helps provide an ongoing pipeline for progression and legacy for the future.”

The College and MotorServ UK continue to work closely with new students looking to reap the benefits of the scheme in the new academic year.
