A local automotive business in Coleshill is supporting Solihull College & University Centre to ensure course content meets local industry and employer needs.
Alongside a variety of local employers, the College’s Motor Vehicle department has established a strong partnership with Happy Days Automotive. Manager Dan Wildman recently met with the College’s Head of School for Motor Vehicle, Alan Downing at Woodlands Campus in Smith’s Wood.
Alan and Dan have fostered a strong partnership bringing Motor Vehicle students a range of opportunities
Alan shares: “All optional units from all levels were selected for the year ahead in line with the skills that are needed in industry. Dan spent a number of hours with me dissecting the content of the units and explaining the improvements that can be made to ensure the framework and structure of our curriculum is exceptional.”
In addition to theoretical and practical motor vehicle skills, Dan and Alan discussed the importance of developing students’ soft skills and embedding the necessary training into the programme to ensure students are ready for work upon completion of the course.
The College looks forward to fostering its partnership with Happy Days Automotive and continuing to create the next generation of highly skilled motor vehicle technicians.
