Aeronautical Engineering students from Solihull College & University Centre have welcomed the Lord Mayor of Birmingham to an engineering session at the Greater Birmingham and Solihull Institute of Technology Hub.
Councillor Ken Wood and the Lady Mayoress Barbara Wood spent time with students as they had a session delivered by Mairi Kerin at the GBSIoT Hub in Birmingham.

The Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress spent time chatting to students and gaining a greater understanding of the hub and the state-of-the-art equipment.

Head of School for Engineering, Ahmed Hussein, says it was a positive visit. He commented: “The second-year students from Level 3 Extended Diploma in Aeronautical Engineering showcased their skills in Smart Manufacturing Technology, demonstrating their expertise and enthusiasm for the field.
“The Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress said that they were highly impressed by the state-of-the-art facilities and the students’ passion for learning. They also listened attentively to inspiring stories from students about their learning journeys and future career aspirations in the Engineering field.”
The College is proud to be lead partner of the Greater Birmingham & Solihull Institute of Technology (GBSIoT). IoTs focus on the specific technical skills needs required in their area. They provide employers with a skilled workforce and students with a clear route to technical employment.
