With a career in college marketing spanning nearly 30 years, Solihull College’s Director of Marketing Dave Cooper is getting ready to leave his current role at the College after six years to start his own digital communications consultancy – DigitalEdgeuk. To mark his departure, along with his constant enthusiasm for digital technology and innovation, the College marketing team nominated him for a ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ at the national FE First Awards.
Along with Solihull College scooping the Silver Award for ‘??Best Website Development Project Category’, which Dave was there to collect, he was completely unaware of the surprise at the end of the awards ceremony awaiting him.
Dave, who will be leaving his current role at Christmas, comments: “??I am not often lost for words but last night was that extremely rare moment. To win one award was enough but then to receive an accolade that has never been awarded before – and masterminded by my own staff, was a really proud moment. To be awarded the inaugural Lifetime Achievement Award by the College Marketing Network was a truly humbling experience”.
Dave, who will continue working for the College on a consultancy basis from 2015 has worked tirelessly to ensure the digital marketing at Solihull College, remains innovative and continues to lead in the FE sector. As a result, the College marketing team has scooped numerous industry awards and is now considered a leader in digital marketing within FE, which has attracted national interest.
