Recent graduates from Solihull College & University Centre celebrated their achievements at their graduation ceremony on Monday 12th October. Graduates arrived with family and friends to celebrate the end of their higher education journey.
The ceremony which was held at the National Motorcycle Museum in Solihull welcomed those who had completed their qualifications including students from Business, Early Years, Health & Social Care, Sports, Animal Management, Art & Design, Graphic Design, Photography, Computing, Human Resource Management, Accounting, Marketing, Management, Applied Biology, Social Studies, Teacher Training and Engineering.
Guest speaker Alistair Fitt, Vice-Chancellor of Oxford Brookes University, presented students with their awards and congratulated them on their outstanding achievements. With qualifications including HNC’s, HND’s, Foundation Degrees, Full Honours Degrees, Top-Up Degrees as well as a range of professional qualifications, students had the chance to celebrate their achievements with their tutors as well as their family and friends.
Recognition was given to students who had performed outstandingly over their course with the presentation of Special Awards. The awards, which were sponsored by partners of Solihull College & University Centre as well as the Mayor of Solihull and the Lord Lieutenant of the West Midlands.
John Callaghan, Principal of Solihull College & University Centre when addressing the graduates on the evening said “It is a sheer joy to see you, our successful graduates, waiting with anticipation to come up onto the stage to receive your certificates and awards. Tonight is about you – your achievement and your successes. You all look very smart, are bright and incredibly proud and on behalf of Solihull College, I would like to say ‘well done’. Enjoy the evening and we wish you every success for the future.”
There was a 95% success rate across for those studying towards a higher level qualification with 11 students gaining a first class honours in their degree and many others achieving distinctions in their HNC and HND qualifications. Many students have gone on to employment, promotion and some have decided to continue with their studies to gain further qualifications.
