Solihull College & University Centre will be hosting a family open day at their Woodlands Campus in Smith’s Wood on Saturday 23rd April.
The free event will be taking place between 10am-3pm with a whole range of activities for people of all ages to enjoy. The campus is home to a former Royal Navy aircraft, brand new 737 flight simulator; construction, engineering and motor vehicle workshops; hair and beauty salons and an aviation, cabin crew and travel department. There will also be an F1 simulator and wheel change pit-crew challenge on site for visitors to experience on the day.
Activities will include a bouncy castle, gyroscope and treasure hunt for the kids, plus tasters in the subject areas the campus offers. There will also be a BBQ and ice cream van for visitors to enjoy. Tutors across the different areas will be available throughout the day to speak to about the variety of school leaver and university-level courses at the College.
In recent years Solihull College & University Centre has expanded its Woodlands Campus in an £8.5million redevelopment to include a new state-of-the-art centre for engineering, construction and motor vehicle – enabling students to learn in an environment with world-class facilities. These facilities include twelve workshops; six for construction and six for motor vehicle and accommodate an MOT workshop, an engine workshop and further rooms for decorating, plastering and brickwork.
The newest additions to the campus are the aircraft and flight simulator, which allow students studying aerospace engineering to get hands on experience as part of their courses.
