An Event Planning student from Solihull College & University Centre has secured his dream job as a conference and banqueting team member at Hogarth’s Hotel in Solihull.
Level 2 Event Planning student Adam King got in touch with the hotel as part of his work experience requirement and following an interview, was delighted to receive a placement offer. He learnt first-hand about the hospitality industry, how a real hotel runs and how to look after and serve customers.
Adam was involved in conferences, birthdays, weddings and special events. He thrived during the experience and when it came to an end he asked the HR manager if there were any job opportunities. As a direct result of his hard work during his work experience placement he now works as conference and banqueting team member at the hotel.
Adam credits the College with helping him get ready for the industry. “I made a lot of friends and really enjoyed the course. I was able to see the experience of planning events from start to finish. I also had a chance to run a charity event in college for MIND which I really enjoyed.”
The future in the hospitality industry looks bright for Adam. “I am proud of how much I have achieved at the College. All the staff were amazing, wonderful and helpful but I had to be punctual and hard working to get where I want to be. I feel like all my hard work has paid off and I am now looking forward to my future at Hogarth’s Hotel.”
