Computing students excited at work experience opportunity with Reapit
Thursday, 10 November, 2016

A number of students from Solihull College & University Centre have been offered the opportunity to gain work experience with Solihull company, Reapit.

Reapit are the UK’s leading CRM software provider for property professionals and have a number of offices throughout the UK. Service Director, Richard Day visited the College to talk about the company, the opportunity of work experience and apprenticeships. From there students were encouraged to apply for a work experience placement at the company in a number of roles including the service desk, testing and service control.

After receiving the applications, Reapit were able to offer 8 fortunate students the chance to complete a week’s work experience at their Solihull office.

The students who are currently studying towards their Computing BTEC qualification are required to complete work experience as part of their studies.

Computing Lecturer at Solihull College & University Centre, Fahwad Mahmood commented:

“Work experience is an important part of any students’ academic studies; it helps make students ‘workplace-ready’.  Learning key skills in work experience will make students more employable, whilst giving them real industry experience of what employer expectations are.

Having a certificate or degree is a fantastic asset but it’s not the only way to make yourself standout to employers.  Work experience relevant to the qualification and the chosen career path of the students puts them in a great position. Our working partnership with Reapit is excellent and it shows how local employers are engaging with Solihull College & University Centre to allow us to take part in work experience and pursue apprenticeships with the company.”

After completing their work experience, if the students impress at Reapit, there is a potential to be offered a paid apprenticeship placement with the company. Previous students from the College have completed apprenticeships with Reapit and some have even secured full-time employment.
