Solihull College & University Centre has announced an exciting new collaboration with Shine TV, the award-winning producers of BBC1’s MasterChef, to deliver a dynamic, hands-on bootcamp designed to uncover and nurture the next generation of television talent.
Based in Digbeth, Birmingham’s vibrant creative quarter and the new home of MasterChef, the ‘Shine TV Bootcamp: A Masterclass in Making Television’ offers aspiring TV professionals a unique opportunity to gain first-hand experience in the world of unscripted entertainment. Whether you’re a budding food blogger, curious journalist, passionate organiser or simply obsessed with storytelling, this part-time, seven-week course offers a rare gateway into one of television’s most exciting fields – casting and production.
The bootcamp blends in-person and online sessions, guiding participants through the essential editorial and technical skills needed to thrive behind the scenes. From researching and interviewing to shooting and story producing, each module is delivered by industry experts with a track record of shaping hit shows.

“We are thrilled to collaborate with Shine TV on this unique training programme, enhancing employment opportunities with MasterChef, now in our region,” says Creative Bootcamp Manager Sophie Jolly. “This hands-on learning experience, coupled with the chance to work directly with the team and on set, is not to be missed!”
Participants will also receive training in industry best practices around compliance, duty of care, and sustainability. The programme culminates in an opportunity to apply for freelance roles as a Researcher or Assistant Producer on the MasterChef production team for 2025 and 2026, a chance to take your skills straight to set.
Open to individuals aged 19 and over living in the West Midlands Combined Authority area, the course is completely free to eligible applicants. Applications are now open and close on Friday 25th April 2025.
