Hair and Beauty, Motor Vehicle and Aeronautical Engineering and Animal Care; these are all the popular subject areas school leavers are being invited to try out at Solihull College’s Next Step Events. Taking place throughout February and March, the College is inviting young people in to Try It! Love It! Learn It! to help them decide which route to take after GCSEs.
Sandra Brookbanks is Assistant Principal for Teaching and Learning at the College, she comments: “After school young people are faced with a sea of choices and it can be daunting knowing which one is best for them. These events are designed to help the school leaver get a taster of not only the wide range of subjects on offer at the College but what it will be like being a student here”?.
The popular events will be taking place at both the Blossomfield Campus in Solihull and the Woodlands Campus in Smith’s Wood. It is essential for students to book on their desired sessions prior to the event to avoid disappointment.
There will be nearly thirty subject areas hosting their own Next Step Events including Fine Art, Early Years and Childhood Studies and the Peter Jones Enterprise Academy (PJEA).
For those who were not able to attend the Woodlands Open Event last November, these events will be a good opportunity to see the new ?£8.5 million motor vehicle and construction centre which was completed in Autumn last year. The campus on Auckland Drive in Smith’s Wood is dedicated to teaching and practical learning of motor vehicle, engineering, construction and aeronautical engineering.
