Through BSL Silver CIC, Shakila has empowered countless individuals by providing workshops, outreach programs, and collaborations with local organisations. Her work not only equips individuals with vital language skills but also raises awareness of the challenges faced by the deaf and hard-of-hearing community.

Shakila highlights the importance of inclusion, stating: “My mission has always been to break down barriers and create opportunities for everyone to communicate and connect. I’m humbled to receive this recognition, but the real reward is seeing the positive impact on the lives of those we serve.”

The award is a testament to Shakila’s tireless advocacy for equality and accessibility. At Solihull College & University Centre, her commitment extends beyond the classroom, as she continues to inspire both students and colleagues alike.

Dr. Rebecca Gater, Principal of Solihull College & University Centre, expressed her pride in Shakila’s achievements, saying: “Shakila exemplifies the values we hold dear at the college, dedication, compassion, and a drive to make a difference. We are thrilled to see her incredible work recognised at such a high level.”
