A Computing & Emerging Technologies student from Solihull College & University Centre will be starting a three-year Level 6 Cyber Security Apprenticeship with world-leading Engineering and Design company, Atkins.
Bryan Manyanye Nguefack, 18 from Birmingham, will be moving to Bristol to pursue his dream career.
Bryan shares his computing journey at the College: “I came here because there were a lot of technical elements and I wanted to do vocational as it’s very practical. I’ve had an excellent experience and the teachers are very helpful and friendly. What I’ve enjoyed most is coding the robots the College provides to make them follow certain paths.”
Distinction student Bryan has been a very focussed student and has dedicated a lot of his time to the course. He shares advice for future students: “Be prepared because the course is intense and there are lots of elements to it, you have to stay organised and on top of the work and you’ll achieve and learn so much.”
Attracted to the appeal of an apprenticeship, Bryan found the Atkins vacancy via the Government website. After an intense assessment with multiple stages, Atkins rang Bryan a day after his final interview to offer him the job. Bryan has since attended a pre-visit day in Bristol where he’ll be working and already taken part in team building exercises to prepare him for his three-year journey with the company.
The apprenticeship will involve project-based work in partnership with other companies and clients, an aspect Bryan is looking forward to. Atkins will also be providing Bryan with fully funded accommodation when he’s on his block releases with his training provider.
Commenting on this achievement, Bryan says: “Moving to Bristol to fulfil my dreams feels like a once in a lifetime opportunity and my parents are so happy for me. I’m living in the moment and all that I know is I want to become a Cyber Security Specialist. Where exactly I’ll be after the next three years, only time will tell.”
The College wishes Bryan the best of luck for his future and are certain he will be an asset to Atkins.
