Where will this course lead?

This course is designed to give participants an introduction to the world of DIY Motor Vehicle Maintenance. This course is perfect for all ages wanting to learn more about how to maintain vehicles. This course gives a good foundation knowledge leading towards Intermediate Car Maintenance Course and Level 1 Motor Vehicle Maintenance Course (Part Time). 

What will I study?

An Introduction to Basic Car Maintenance will cover, Removing and Replacing Vehicle Tyres and Braking System Components. It will also cover Oil and Air Filter Changes alongside spark plug removal and replacement. The Basic Car Maintenance course also offers an insight into the knowledge needed to prepare you to undertake the above tasks and relevant health and safety. 

How will this course be delivered?

This course will be delivered over 6 weeks (about 1 and a half months) in two-hour sessions and will include both Theory and Practical elements taking place in Solihull Colleges State of the art workshop facilities (Woodlands Campus) 

What qualifications will I get?

This is a personal enrichment course.

How will I be assessed?

This course is for personal development and is informally assessed by the tutor with self-assessment and evaluation by the student.

What are the entry requirements?

Students must be aged 19+.

What else do I need to know?

The Basic Car Maintenance course is a hands-on course and you will need to be prepared to get hands on with the vehicle. Gloves and Steel toe capped boots are mandatory. Participants can wear own clothes that they do not mind getting dirty. 

This course will run subject to a minimum class size.
