Where will this course lead?

This course is ideal for you if you are a new first line manager or are hoping to become a first line manager in the near future. It provides a range of knowledge and skills required to carry out this role. You can progress to the level 3 Diploma 'top up'.

What will I study?

During this course, you will study the following:

- Understanding the communication process with key stakeholders
- Understanding how to motivate to improve performance of teams
- Solving problems and making decisions
- Planning change in the workplace to achieve outcomes
- Understanding leadership and management

How will this course be delivered?

Sessions contain a combination of individual and group work, including discussions, case studies, presentations, debates, research, workshops and tutorials.

What qualifications will I get?

CMI L3 Certificate in Principles of Management and Leadership.

How will I be assessed?

To obtain this qualification you will be expected to attend regularly and pass seven written assignments.

What are the entry requirements?

Whilst there are no formal entry requirements you will need to be able to meet the assessment demands, through written assignments (one per unit) and have a background that will enable you to benefit from the programme. If you do not have evidence of GCSE or equivalent in English you may be asked to undertake a written assessment.

What else do I need to know?

This is a short course qualification and is aimed at practising or aspiring team leaders and managers who will supervise or manage a team to achieve clearly defined outcomes in roles such as team leader, supervisor and first line manager.
