What will I study?

This 12 - week Creative Venue Technician Bootcamp provides comprehensive training for aspiring Venue Technicians, covering various aspects of theatre production such as technical skills, production management, set design, lighting, and sound.

This comprehensive training program covers essential technical theatre/ venue skills, safety protocols, and practical knowledge across various aspects of production, ensuring that participants are well-prepared for working in creative environments.

How will this course be delivered?

The bootcamp will be 12 weeks in duration. There will be a break over Christmas Applications are open so please apply now!

The bootcamp will be delivered at Blossomfield Campus, Solihull College & University Centre and Stratford-upon-Avon College. We've also successfully partnered with numerous local theatres and venues. Many of them generously provide site visits and training sessions led by their experts for our program participants. Venues already confirmed include:

What are the entry requirements?

The Venue Technician Bootcamp is open to anyone with passion and drive to work in the area of Technical Theatre or Venues. To qualify for this FREE* course, you must be over 19 years of age, live in the West Midlands Combined Authority area postcode (Birmingham, Dudley, Sandwell, Solihull, Walsall and Wolverhampton), Coventry or Warwick.

Applicants for the Venue Technician Bootcamp may come from a diverse range of backgrounds and motivations, including:

  • Career Changer: Individuals seeking a transition into the dynamic field of Technical Theatre from a different career path.
  • Industry Professionals in the West Midlands: Professionals currently working in the creative industry in the West Midlands region who want to broaden their skillset.
  • Recent College or University Graduates: Graduates fresh out of college or university who are eager to discover new employment opportunities
  • Job Seekers Seeking Skill Enhancement: Individuals actively seeking employment opportunities who wish to gain new skills, bolster their confidence, and accumulate valuable industry experience.
