Where will this course lead?

This course will lead to the achievement of the Level 3 CIPD Foundation Certificate.

Level 3 Certificate in People Practice provides a great foundation in people management, HR and learning & development and gives you the knowledge to take the next step in your career with people practice.

The course is for those that are just seeking to start a HR career or those that are currently working in a HR or learning development support role .i.e., HR Assistant, HR Administrator or Learning Administrator.

Successful completion of this qua;ification will enable the individual to apply for Associate Membership (Assoc CIPD) of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), the professional body for the HR sector.

The many transferable skills developed during this course provide a superb foundation for career pathways in HR as both a generalist or a specialist. On completion you may choose to continue your studies with the chartered body to achieve further qualifications and ultimately chartered membership of the CIPD.

What will I study?

You'll complete written assignments for each module that you study, letting you demonstrate the new knowledge you've gained and the skills you've mastered.You will be required to study the knowledge, skills and behaviours which are essential in the human resources profession including:

- Business understanding - demonstrating a clear understanding the structure of your organisation, the sector in which it operates and the values by which it does business. - HR Legislation and Policy - understanding how HR legislation underpins the HR policy framework in your organisation and being able to provide expert advice and support to managers. - Communication and interpersonal skills - dealing effectively with colleagues through a range of media, building trust and effective working relationships.

You may be required to study Functional Skills in Maths and English depending on your previous achievements. Workshops are approx. 2 hours per week and are

available at various times at both college campuses. A blended learning route is also available if you are unable to attend college.

How will this course be delivered?

The course is delivered through a combination of classroom teaching, practical workshops and independent learning/self- study.

You will attend college for one day a week. This will include 6 hours of taught session as part of the Certificate in HR Practice and a further 4 hours per week of independent study.

The course is delivered over 12 months.

What qualifications will I get?

CIPD Foundation Certificate in People Practice and Foundation membership of CIPD.

How will I be assessed?

Level 3 CIPD Foundation Certificate.

How do I get a place on the course?

Learners can receive advice and support from the Careers Advice and Guidance team at Solihull College & University Centre.

What are the entry requirements?

You will be required to take a assessment of your English skills prior to enrolment. You will then receive advice and guidance from one of our expert Tutors.

What else do I need to know?

This CIPD course enables you to strengthen your knowledge of Human Resources and Learning & Development, so you can gain the skills needed to be a successful people professional.

It also makes you eligible for CIPD Foundation Membership, which allows you to continue developing your career by studying at the Associate Level. For information on the cost of memberships with the CIPD, view their website.
