Certificate level will show competence in both knowledge and skills and is suitable for learners who would like to work as a teaching assistant or are a new teaching assistant, learning support assistant or in a similar role in schools at level 2. The level 2 course prepares you for the role if you have limited or no experience and are looking to make this your career.

Maths, English and IT will be an important part of your course. You will continue to develop these skills and may work towards a qualification at an appropriate level.
This course is college and work experience based. You will be in college for 1 day of 5 hrs per week and in work practice a minimum 1 day per week.
NCFE Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools level 2.
Assessment is via written assignments, presentations, course work and work based assessments.
Places are offered by interview depending on your current experience working in schools . You may also be tested for your English and Maths skills.
Level 2 in either English and Level 2 in Maths (equivalent to C or above in GCSE)

After you enrol on the course you will need to arrange a placement for one day per week working directly in the classroom with a teacher supervising you. The placement and course requires you to have an enhanced disclosure DBS (criminal record check). The certificate will need to be shown to your tutor as soon as it has been received. This certificate should be brought to college on the first session of your course.
You will be need to provide all basic stationery including pens, pencils, paper, plastic wallets, folders plus any additional stationery which is required for your course.
*09:30-14:30 plus additional support until 15:30 if required.
Level 3 Certificate or Diploma (depending on entry criteria) in Supporting Teaching and Leaning in Schools after which you may progress to Higher Education, including our HND in Advanced Practice in Work with Children and Families, or to degree programmes such as Foundation Degree in Classroom Support, Foundation Degree in Early Years Bachelor of Education Degree (teaching - Qualified Teacher Status) You will need to meet all the requirements for these options, please check the individual course leaflets
