Where will this course lead?

The expertise of being able to royal iced a cake, and hopefully to another class with more detailed and various royal iced designs.

What will I study?

1. Induction students will see a demonstration on how to make royal icing and receive handouts on various recipes, including helpful information regarding this course.
2. How to marzipan a rich fruit cake for royal icing
3. How to learn the skill of coating their cake in royal icing
4. more skills on coating a royal iced cake and piping practice
5. Learn some more skills on how to pipe with royal icing.
6. complete royal iced cake, with a cake top piped design.

How will this course be delivered?

Five week course, 2 hours and 30 minutes.

What qualifications will I get?

None - however this course would provide you with a good understanding, and experience to continue on with further royal iced projects.

How will I be assessed?

It would be ongoing assessment by tutor and yourself.

What are the entry requirements?

You must be 19 years or older.

What else do I need to know?

Students will need to buy or cook their rich fruit cake at home by the second week.

Students will need to buy all ingredients such as marzipan, icing sugar, merri-white, to complete a royal iced cake.

Students will need to buy tools such as top and side metal scraper, pallet knife, cake drums, piping tubes, greaseproof paper, and food colours.

What can I do after this course?

You should be competent to royal ice a cake and possibly enrol for further courses.
