Where will this course lead?

You will be proficient in altering a number of different garments and will have improved confidence in using a sewing machine.

What will I study?

Are there things in your wardrobe that you don't wear because they need some slight adjustment? This clothing alteration class will give you all the basic skills to alter or repair your clothes. This is a great way to save money and prolong the life of your clothing. You might need to take up or let down hems to lengthen or shorten a garment and how let out or take in seams to fit. Perhaps you need to replace broken zips in skirts, trousers or jeans?

In the first week you will also learn how to pin items for alterations, then each week you will learn how to make alterations to a variety of clothing items

Week 1 - Trousers

Week 2: Tops/Jumpers

Week 3: skirts/dresses

Week 4: shirts/blouses

Week 5: coat/jacket

Tutor lead group sessions.

What are the entry requirements?

You must be 19 years or older and you need to have basic knowledge of how to use a sewing machine.

What else do I need to know?

Sewing machine provided or bring your own.

What can I do after this course?

Move on to our Patchwork and quilting or another community course, or you may decide to start your own business.
