Does your current experience involve strong organisational skills? Maybe you could transfer these to work in television production?
Or are you already a Researcher or AP within media, looking to get more pure television experience?
If any of the above sounds like you, then this is the training course you've been waiting for!
Who we're looking for: Passionate and creative individuals that are looking to build their knowledge of broadcasting.
We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in the following areas -
Shine TV, part of Banijay UK, are an award-winning independent television production company, and the producer of prime time shows, such as; BBC1's MasterChef and Channel 4's Hunted. MasterChef has recently moved to Digbeth, Birmingham and Shine TV have partnered with Create Central, WMCA and Solihull College & University Centre to deliver a series of training bootcamps for the next generation of TV Casting Researchers & Assistant Producers, culminating in the potential of working within the team on MasterChef.
The Shine TV Bootcamps will offer bespoke, expert-led training, targeting core editorial skills needed to be part of a casting team on a large entertainment series. This includes:
Casting; the application process, interviewing contestants & writing detailed biographies.
Research; background checks, social media checks, compliance & duty of care for contributors.
Story producing; spotting a story, developing narratives and on-screen interview technique.
Shooting; basic camera operation, sound and key technical skills.
As part of the Bootcamp, you'll also be trained on Health & Safety, sustainability and attend workshops that will give you the key skills to secure your next role as a Researcher or Assistant Producer in Broadcast Television.
Each bootcamp will culminate in an opportunity to apply for a role on BBC1's primetime cookery series, MasterChef, as a Researcher or Assistant Producer. These are fixed term freelance roles working within the 2025 and 2026 teams. Please note that participating in the Bootcamp does not guarantee a role on MasterChef.
This bootcamp does not provide a formal qualification but works directly with local employers and delivers industry-focused skills and practical experience.
There is no formal assessment.
