Where will this course lead?

The SEG Award in Dog Grooming aims to develop a pet owner's skills and knowledge around the management of their own dog's coat or facilitate the first steps in a learners' progression towards a career in Dog Grooming. The qualification covers:

• Gaining the knowledge and skills surrounding the basic maintenance of a dog's coat, including the removal of knots, tangles and matts using basic equipment and methods of removing excess coat including deshedding.

• Gaining the knowledge and skills surrounding promoting and maintaining animal health and welfare, including recording and reporting on an animal's physical condition and potential welfare issues and preventative care methods such as nail clipping and ear cleaning.

Throughout your studies, you will cover all 2 Units from the following list:

Basic Maintenance of Dogs Coats

Animal Health and Welfare

How will this course be delivered?

You will be required to spend 11 Wednesday evenings at Blossomfield Campus College. The course delivery will consist of both practical and theory sessions.

What qualifications will I get?

SEG Award in Dog Grooming which is accredited by the Skills and Education Group.

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed on your practical skills, and you will also be required to submit relevant assignments. The course is a pass/fail course, and all elements of the course will need to be successfully achieved for you to gain the qualification.

What are the entry requirements?

Minimum qualifications and experience for this course are: - Successful completion of the Basic Dog Grooming course at Solihull College or previous work experience in the canine industry.

Applicants should have qualifications or be working to a Level 2 standard.

What else do I need to know?

Course Dates: 25/09/24 - 11/12/24 (Term time only)

Times: 6:30-8:30 (Four practical evenings will finish at 9:00pm)

All equipment for the course will be provided and included in the cost of the course.

What can I do after this course?

Learners who achieve this qualification could progress onto the SEG Awards Level 3 Certificate in Dog Grooming or the SEG Awards Level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming.
