Our Level 2 course is for those developing their skills after achieving the Level 1 Diploma. You will learn about light vehicle repair and maintenance such as servicing, transmission, electrics, engines and car components.

Level 2 Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair Principles (QCF)
There will be seven online exams and a series of practical assessments along with a portfolio to build. Functional Skills assessment depends on level of entry and GCSE grades.

Minimum of 1 GCSE at grade 4 or above in either Maths or English, and successful completion of a relevant Level 1 programme. A suitable reference and a successful interview.
If you are applying as a school leaver, please initially apply for the Entry Level or Level 1 course depending on your expected grades. You will then be able to work towards progression onto higher level courses.
Along with the Motor Vehicle subjects, you will also undertake Functional skills in Maths, English, and ICT. You will need to provide your own boots and overalls and all necessary equipment for taking notes. Good levels of English and Maths are important for your success in your course, your chosen vocation and life. Throughout your course you will continue to develop your English and Maths skills in your vocational classes.
If you haven't achieved an A*/1 - C/4 grade in English or Maths at GCSE, or a Level 2 Functional Skill, you will also be working towards a qualification in English or Maths at a level that will enable you to progress towards these grades. This qualification is accepted by the repair industry as the basic mechanic qualification and would be acceptable to gain employment as an improver.
