Where will this course lead?

What will I study?

This course is suitable for those new to oil painting and those with a little experience. The course will build your painting skills and confidence in the medium of oil paint. It may also improve your thought process and composition skills in other painting mediums.

You will look at and practice materials and processes involved in oil painting, and work from still life right from the beginning.

We will look at a range of oil painting techniques, including mixing colour, using different surfaces, preparation techniques and various paint application methods. You will then move on to working on self-directed projects whilst being guided on how you might put your initial sketches into practice.

You will leave the course having explored and experimented with various techniques and having created your own art work. You will have more awareness of the diverse concepts and production of the generic process of oil painting.
