The Researcher/Development Bootcamp equips you to play a vital role in television production. You will learn to uncover essential elements crucial to every TV Production, you will closely with industry professionals developing these skills. This involves finding and developing stories , locations, props, products, and information through reading, viewing, fact-checking, and tracking down statistics. You'll master compiling engaging content to deliver to production companies and commissioners.
The bootcamps will include:
Commissioning Process:
Understanding how the commissioning process works for both broadcast and on-demand services. Exploring the criteria and considerations that production companies and broadcasters use when selecting projects.
Ideas Development:
Exploring the different stages of the development process, from ideation to pre-production planning. Learning how to generate original ideas for factual television programs working on live briefs with local professionals. Understanding how to refine and develop these ideas into viable concepts for production.
Writing Treatments:
Developing skills in writing treatments, which are documents that outline the key elements of a proposed television program. Understanding how to effectively communicate the concept, structure, and potential impact of the program.
Contributor and talent Sourcing:
Learning the techniques involved in finding and securing suitable contributors for various types of programs. Understanding the ethical considerations and legal aspects related to sourcing contributors. Understanding the process of identifying and nurturing new on-screen talent.
This Bootcamp will provide a comprehensive overview of the television production industry, with a focus on factual programming. It combines theoretical knowledge with practical skills, preparing you for a role in developing and pitching ideas for television programmes. You will work closely with local production companies and respond to commissioning briefs, gaining hands-on experience in the industry

The Development/Researcher Bootcamp is open to anyone with passion and drive to work in the area of streaming. To qualify for this FREE course, you must be over 19 years of age, live in the West Midlands Combined Authority area postcode (Birmingham, Dudley, Sandwell, Solihull, Walsall and Wolverhampton), Coventry or Warwick.
