Where will this course lead?

This course will lead to the achievement of the Level 3 CIPD Foundation Certificate in People Practice.

The foundation qualification is ideal for for you, if you are beginning your career in the people profession. Also, the qualification is an excellent starting point, if you are already in a support role and looking to take the next step on the career ladder.

Successful completion of this qua;ification will enable the individual to apply for Foundation Membership (Foundation CIPD) of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), the professional body for the HR sector.

The many transferable skills developed during this course provide a superb foundation for career pathways in HR as both a generalist or a specialist. On completion you may choose to continue your studies with the chartered body to achieve further qualifications and ultimately chartered membership of the CIPD.

What will I study?

You will study four units, covering a wide range of HR topics:

  • Business culture and change in practice
  • Principles of analytics
  • Core behaviours for people professionals
  • Essentials of people practice

How will this course be delivered?

This is a classroom-based delivery, and you will attend college each week (in term time) for the duration of your course. Sessions contain a combination of individual and group work. This includes discussions, case studies, presentations, debates, research, workshops and tutorials. Tutorials can be conducted using Microsoft teams. The course starts in September and ends in June.

What qualifications will I get?

CIPD Foundation Certificate in People Practice and Foundation membership of the CIPD.

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed through four written assignments and a role play.

How do I get a place on the course?

Places are offered by interviews only. Interviews are normally conducted by telephone.

What are the entry requirements?

You should have a GCSE grade C/4 or equivalent in English.

What else do I need to know?

You are required to attend college for three hours a week, attend tutorials arranged with your tutor and undertake at least three hours self-directed study each week.

If you are not already a member of CIPD, you will need to join at the start of the course.

What can I do after this course?

Students who are successful on this course may progress to the CIPD Associate Diploma in People Management (Level 5).
