This 9 month programme is ideal if you are intending to progress to Higher Education. The Access to Social Sciences programme is recognised by all universities nationally and will give you a thorough understanding of the subjects you may study at university.
The range of subjects on offer will enable you to choose the appropriate options to progress onto degree courses leading to a variety of careers such in areas such as:
- Social Justice
- Law
- Politics
- International Studies
- Social Work
- Criminology
- Sociology
There is one core subject which is study skills. Those students wishing to go into specialist careers will need to choose the recommended subjects from the following options depending on the pathway chosen:
- Criminology (Blossomfield only)
- Social Policy
- Sociology

The Access to Social Sciences programme is 10 hours per week. The majority of classes run from 9.30 to 3.30pm, Monday to Friday.
The course is taught by highly experienced specialist tutors using the latest innovative teaching methods.
Access to Social Science Level 3 Skills & Education Group (Subject to Approval).
Assessment is through internal assignments and written exams.
Access to Social Sciences application, successful interview and diagnostic assessment.
It is essential that you hold a minimum of a level 2 qualification in English and Maths.
You will need to demonstrate your ability and commitment and be able to show that you have the appropriate educational background/experiences that will allow you to be successful on a level 3 Access to Higher Education programme.

Solihull College & University Centre offers full time and part time courses for businesses and residents in Birmingham, Walsall, Wolverhampton, Coventry, Warwickshire and the whole of the West Midlands.
Students will be expected to pay for their own DBS.
