IT students offered chance to turn HND in to full BSc Degree
Friday, 13 November, 2015

Solihull College & University Centre is offering a brand new top- up degree allowing anyone with a suitable HND in Computing & IT to develop their practical and academic skills further and gain a BSc (Hons) Business Systems and Technology degree validated by Newman University.

The programme, starting in December 2015, is aimed at people with a wide range of experiences – from those who have recently completed their courses to those with business knowledge who now feel it’s time to update their skills.

The course content considers computer security, entrepreneurship, the management of technology innovation and the expanding world of enterprise systems. The course also has a two unit dissertation module where students are able to research into a particular specialism within IT or Business.

Mohammed Maher, Head of School for Computing & IT comments “We are delighted to have teamed up with Newman University to offer this top-up degree. It allows students the chance to turn their HND into a full degree in less than a year – an attractive prospect with work and family life taking up so much of people’s time”.

The programme is driven by student led activities. Students will draw on their own experience from either academic or professional life and add to discussion sessions. This reflective process allows the individual as well as the class to identify their own learning needs and develop academic independence – a valuable and transferable skill for work as well as further study.

The BSc (Hons) Business Systems and Technology top-up degree takes place one day per week over 24 weeks. To find out more about the College’s Computing & IT courses, please follow this link or call 0121 678 7000.
