West Midlands Mayor visits College during introductory tour

Newly elected Mayor of the West Midlands, Richard Parker, has visited Solihull College & University Centre as part of his introductory tour of the region.

With skills one of his priorities for the area, the Mayor took a tour of the College’s Blossomfield Campus to gain a deeper understanding of the regional skills agenda, and the important part colleges play.

College Principal, Dr Rebecca Gater, commented: “We were delighted to welcome the Mayor on just the fourth day of his tenure. Our students and staff were thrilled to showcase our diverse curriculum areas and discuss our innovative programmes, including the Creative TV Production Bootcamp, our programme for West Midlands Police dog handlers, and HTQs in Cyber Security.

“As the lead provider for the West Midlands and Warwickshire LSIF, we proudly highlighted the exceptional work we are doing to enhance skills across the region. Our passionate conversations with Mayor about the expertise our students are developing and the robust partnerships we have with employers to address business needs and skills gaps were a testament to our commitment to excellence.
