Cabin Crew students from Solihull College & University Centre have been undergoing safety and emergency training at the British Airways Global Training Academy based at Heathrow Airport.
The training is carried out by BA’s Cabin Crew Training Team. All students undertake this training as well as wet drill life raft sessions and other practical exercises throughout their time on the course.
During the trip to Heathrow, students completed a variety of drills to help prepare them to work in the aviation industry, including slide descent, slide-raft practical demonstrations, and smoke chamber exercises, as well as what to do if the pilot is incapacitated.
The course aims to meet the needs of those wanting to work in the aviation industry and provides a broad understanding of what it’s like to work in the sector.
Commercial Services Coordinator, Jane Pendelton, commented: “Our Cabin Crew students were able to learn from the experienced Instructors completing a range of Safety and Emergency procedures in a real training environment. Our students thoroughly enjoyed being amongst BA Crew, Captains, First Officers for a fun-filled and informative day. We have been running this experience now for many years and it enables the students to put into practice everything they have learned throughout their programme of study.”
