Solihull College & University Centre is delighted to be adding to its Animal Welfare & Veterinary Nursing offer with a new equine course for school leavers.
The BTEC Level 2 in Equine Studies is a one-year course and perfect for students wanting to start a career working with horses. It will give students a sound basis to progress further in the equine sector.
The course will cover a range of topics, including Equine Tack and Equipment, Equine Biology and Health, Working with Horses, Equine Preparation and Plaiting, Practical Equine Behaviour, Practical Yard Duties, and a work placement.
Students will spend three days per week in the College’s Animal Welfare Centre at Blossomfield Campus, one day per week will be spent undertaking practical/theory activities at Solihull Riding Club, and one day on an equine related work placement.
Head of School for Animal Welfare & Veterinary Nursing, Claire Powell, comments: “We are really excited to be embarking on this new venture and I am confident it will be a fantastic addition to the School of Animal Welfare & Veterinary Nursing. This allows us to be more diverse in our offer and provide opportunities locally for students wishing to pursue a career with horses.”
