Where will this course lead?

This course is designed to give participants more insight into DIY Motor Vehicle Maintenance on an intermediate level. This course is perfect for all ages wanting to learn more about Motor Vehicle Maintenance and is ideally aimed at individuals who have had previous experience within the industry that may need "refreshing" and or individuals who have completed the Basic Car Maintenance Course. This course gives a good intermediate knowledge leading towards Advanced Car Maintenance Course and Level 1 Motor Vehicle Maintenance Course (Part Time).

What will I study?

Intermediate Car Maintenance will cover, Removing and Replacing Vehicle Suspension Systems, Automotive Electrical Systems such as Starter Motor and Alternator and will include relevant vehicle testing within those systems. Engine and Chassis Systems. The Intermediate Car Maintenance course will also investigate diagnostic methods to diagnose common vehicle faults that you may experience on your own vehicle along with intermediate complex removal methods of other vehicle components.

How will this course be delivered?

This course will be delivered over 10 weeks (about 2 and a half months) in two-hour sessions and will include both theory and practical elements taking place in Solihull College's state-of-the-art workshop facilities (Woodlands Campus).

What qualifications will I get?

This is a personal enrichment course. 

How will I be assessed?

This course is for personal development and is informally assessed by the tutor with self-assessment and evaluation by the student.

Students must be aged 19+.

What else do I need to know?

The Intermediate Car Maintenance course is a hands-on course and you will need to be prepared to get hands on with the vehicle. Gloves and Steel toe capped boots are mandatory. Participants can wear own clothes that they do not mind getting dirty.
