Where will this course lead?

This is a progression route for those holding a Foundation Degree in Business and Management Practice or HND (240 credits) to 'top up'. The Business and Management programme is an ideal choice if you are looking for a degree that builds on your previous study and offers the completion of an Honours degree. It offers you the advantage of the opportunity to obtain an Honours degree level proficiency in just one year of study. This full-time programme is designed to prepare you for a broad range of careers in management, business, and related areas. The study of specific areas and functions of business combined with the development of evaluation and analytical skills will enable you to respond creatively to the issues faced in business and management.

What will I study?

The aim of the programme is to support and develop students for careers in the areas of Business and Management. Modules include:

· Work-based Project or Dissertation

· Leading & Managing Change

· Managing Marketing Activities

· Strategic Leadership

· Strategic Insights

· Developing Self and Developing Others

How will this course be delivered?

On a Full time, basis (1 year) this course will be delivered one day a week up to ten hours between10.00am to 8.00pm and delivery method is face to face taught sessions.

On a Part time basis (1.5 years) you will attend one day a week up to six hours between 10.00am to 8.00pm and delivery method is face to face taught sessions.

What qualifications will I get?

BA (HONS) Business and Management Final Year Top Up Awarded by Oxford Brookes University (360 CAT Credits).

How will I be assessed?

Assessments are through continuous course work and exams. These assessments will take various forms suitable to a business environment and will contribute towards your employability skills.

What are the entry requirements?

1. Foundation Degree in Business, Management Practice awarded by Oxford Brookes University, successfully gaining 240 credits and a 55% grade average.

2. Foundation Degree in Business and Management or related disciplines in Business, successfully gaining 240 credits and usually a 55% grade average, subject to individual credit rating by Oxford Brookes University.

3. A Higher National Diploma from another institution, successfully gaining 240 CATS credits with Merit Prole at Level 5 under the Subject Benchmark Statement for Business and Management QAA subject to individual credit rating by Oxford Brookes University.

4. Students who have completed 240 CATS credits at Levels 4 and 5 under the Subject Benchmark Statement for Business and Management QAA (usually achieving at least a 55% grade average over the Level 5 modules) at another institution within or outside the UK may be considered, subject to individual credit rating by Oxford Brookes University and may be required to pass one or two bridging modules at the College before they can enter the BA (Hons) programme.

English language requirements:

Applicants whose first language is not English must demonstrate that their level of English is acceptable by achieving a score in a recognised test such as: British Council IELTS: 6.0 overall with a minimum of 6.0 in the Reading and Writing components; and a minimum of 5.5 in Listening and Speaking components (the IELTS qualification should not be more than two years old at the time of application). All students need to possess suitable references.

What else do I need to know?

Contact hours comprise a mix of lectures (including guest speakers as well as more theory-based material), seminars, workshops, and tutorials. The students' approach to enquiry is supported and structured through, for example, in-class exercises, debates, discussions, and case study analysis, during their contact hours.

All enrolled students have access to Oxford Brookes University e-library and Solihull College & University Centre library. If you wish to purchase course textbooks, you will need to budget for either new or used textbooks. Costs depend on the direction and ambition of your work.

This course is a full-time programme, and you will be expected to attend one day per week between the hours of 10am - 8pm, timetables will be issued to successful applicants during induction and enrolment in September of the current Academic year.

External applicants will be required to provide Learning Outcomes and Grades of their Modules achieved at Levels 4 and 5 for credit rating by Oxford Brookes University.
