Where will this course lead?

This course is suitable for beginners or those who wish to enhance their skills. It is aimed to help the student grow confidence to speak French right away.

What will I study?

Term 1 - Beginners 1 is designed for complete Beginners of the language.

lesson 1 - greetings / verb to be
lesson 2 - nationality / profession
lesson 3 - asking and answering personal questions / numbers 1 to 20
lesson 4 - new verbs / negation 
lesson 5 - numbers 20 to 60 / asking & giving phone numbers / family members
lesson 6 - talking about others, family, own statut / possessives adjectives
lesson 7 - order at the restaurant
lesson 8 - breakfast / lunch / diner
lesson 9 - daily habits
lesson 10 - days and time / hobbies

Term 2 - Beginners 2 is open to those who have studied in Term 1 or have some knowledge of the language.

lesson 1 - days of the week / hobbies and how often you do something
lesson 2 - months of the year / verb must
lesson 3 - imperative form / ask & give directions
lesson 4 - routine for daily activities
lesson 5 - buying clothes in a shop
lesson 6 - revision / numbers
lesson 7 - near future / verb to go
lesson 8 - holidays vocabulary
lesson 9 - how to ask for train tickets and time
lesson 10 - revisions

Term 3 - Improvers is for those who have studied in Terms 1 or 2 or have a good knowledge of the language.

lesson 1 - book an hotel room / describe accommodation
lesson 2 - rooms in a house / furniture
lesson 3 - pendant & depuis (since and for)
lesson 4 - past tense
lesson 5 - to want / to be able to / to have to
lesson 6 - forbidden to ...& colloquial French
lesson 7 - imperfect tense
lesson 8 - write a menu
lesson 9 - I think that / I hope that + subjonctif
lesson 10 - Conversation on past week-ends and holidays

How will this course be delivered?

A two-hour lesson each week for the duration of the course.

What qualifications will I get?

This is a personal development course.

How will I be assessed?

This course is for personal development and is informally assessed by the tutor with self-assessment and evaluation by the student.

This course will run subject to a minimum class size.
