Where will this course lead?

The Skills for Further Study in Education qualification is designed to support learners to return to study and to help develop the skills needed to progress to level 3 Access to Education.

The qualification will focus on study skills, Literacy and numeracy as well as building on your personal development and development of knowledge within education related subjects.

What will I study?

You will study subjects in the area of;

- Sociology
- Psychology
- Anatomy and physiology
- Study skills

How will this course be delivered?

You will also engage in two weeks of block placement to gain experience within the sector.

What qualifications will I get?

Level 2 Certificate in Skills for Further Study in Education

How will I be assessed?

All units will be internally assessed using a range of methods. The units are graded pass, Merit or distinction.

How do I get a place on the course?

Places are offered by interview depending on your experience, grades and a good reference.

You will also have a diagnostic assessment for English and Math's skills.

What are the entry requirements?

Entry based on previous qualifications and diagnostic results.

What else do I need to know?

All students working with Vulnerable Adults / Children will need to have an Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau Check; this may affect your application. Please discuss this with your interviewing tutor.

You need to bring pen, notebooks and folders to every lesson. It is expected that you will bring a memory stick to save and back up your work.

Is there anything else I will have to pay for in order to do this course?

You will also need to provide costs for text books, a polo shirt for work placement during the course; the cost of this will be confirmed  before the start date.

What can I do after this course?

You can progress on to the Access to Education course and then on successful completion of the access course, you can then progress on to Higher Education.

Or you could chose to do a level 3 route to work in health and social care.
