Where will this course lead?

This four week course for those wanting to improve their English language skills focuses on speaking and listening and learning about the British culture, our local area and the UK. Perfect for those wanting a boost over the summer or an introduction to studying ESOL at our college. Please contact us for further details or to apply. 

What will I study?

You will gain confidence and skills in speaking and listening in English, focusing on conversation and British culture. You will undertake activities to improve your reading, writing, speaking and listening skills whilst developing your knowledge of Britain and its cultures and customs.

How will this course be delivered?

The course is running from 9.30am-1.00pm each week day (Monday to Friday).

What qualifications will I get?

A college certificate in 'British Culture and Conversation'.

How will I be assessed?

You will be initially assessed at the beginning of the course to ensure you are placed in the correct group and our teachers can help you with your areas of need. There is no formal summative assessment.

How do I get a place on the course?

Please send an e-mail to ESOL@solihull.ac.uk with your name, age and contact details. We will then ask you to attend the college to carry out an English assessment to determine which level you are working towards and will then find a suitable class for you.

What are the entry requirements?

You need to be aged 19 years or older. However you will need to be able to read and write at a very basic level to get a place on the course, unfortunately we cannot cater for pre entry level learners on this course.

This course will run subject to a minimum class size.

What can I do after this course?

You can progress onto one of our part time ESOL courses starting in September.
