New Psychology & Criminology course announced for school leavers

25th February 2019

Solihull College & University Centre is excited to announce a new addition to its school Leaver offer. Psychology & Criminology, a full-time level 3 vocational course, is now open to applications.

The course will be delivered by specialist staff with a range of teaching techniques designed to develop students’ knowledge, understanding, and skills. The course is divided into two years covering a variety of topics including criminological theories, crime and punishment, psychopathology, the justice system and more.

Upon completion of the two year course, students will achieve an Extended Certificate in Psychology and an Applied Diploma in Criminology.

Course lecturer Aimee Clayden states; ‘The College’s marketing team is consistently asked at schools about Psychology and Criminology so we know the demand is there amongst young people. The course offers an insight into the populist social science specialisms of psychology and criminology. It is unique because it’s an alternative to A-Levels and Criminology is not yet a widespread offer at level 3’.

After completion, students can continue on to university level at the College or advance to university courses elsewhere. Students are invited to apply for the course from now and can find out more at the College’s upcoming open event on Tuesday 5th March, 5.30-8.00pm at Blossomfield Campus.
