Wednesday, 16 August, 2017

The outstanding quality of Solihull College & University Centre’s Higher Education curriculum has once again been recognised in the National Student Survey (NSS).

The annual survey is published by the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE), which this year was completed by more than 300,000 higher education students, and is designed to gather information from undergraduates on a range of aspects related to their experience.

88% of Solihull College & University Centre’s Higher Education students declared Satisfaction with their course, a figure well above the National average of 84%, higher than any of the local colleges with similar numbers of respondents, and only 1% below the highest rated university in the area.

It has exceed the national rate in seven of the eight categories used to assess the student experience and is either above, or within 1%, of the top 25% average of all universities and colleges in England for “Teaching on my Course”, “Learning Opportunities”, “Assessment and Feedback”, “Academic Support”; “Organisation and Management”, “Learning Community”, and “Student Voice”.

Sue McGregor, Dean of Higher Education and Curriculum Innovation at the College said:”These results, which follow so soon after the college’s recent achievement of being one of only twelve in the country to receive a Teaching Excellence Framework Gold rating, are yet more proof that Solihull is an outstanding provider of higher education. It is testament to the collaborative work we undertake with employers and university partners to co-create courses relevant to the local and wider economy, and allow us to consistently deliver outstanding teaching, learning and outcomes for our students.”

The results released this week will also provide valuable evidence to inform students’ on choices about where and what to study following their A level results.
